Lion Facts 308
The gestation period for female lions is usually 4 months. Lions are ready to meet when they get to 3 or 4 years. The female acts a bit queer during this time as she prefers not to give birth in the presence of others. She therefore pulls away from the pride, give birth then take care of the cubs on her own until they are more than six weeks old.
The females in a pride prefer mating all at the same time. They do this so that the cubs can grow up together. After the first six weeks of taking care of the cubs by themselves, lionesses huddle up the cubs together and mix them up so that any mother takes care of any cub.
